Mission

Working Plan

Both Reid Hospital & Health Care Services and the Reid Hospital Foundation must plan in and for circumstances of constant change and uncertainty. New and expensive technologies, changing reimbursement patterns, increases in charity care, and fluctuations in the flow of charitable gifts and bequests to the Foundation remain constant and unpredictable.

These factors make it important for Reid and the Foundation to follow a long-range plan addressing the need:

  1. To keep faith with donors
  2. To conduct, as appropriate, capital campaigns
  3. To continue to build — by gifts, bequests and effective investment management — a major endowment fund.

Reid – Foundation Relationship

Recognizing these needs and uncertainties, Reid Hospital looks to the Foundation for:

  • Grants
Timely grants to Reid for purposes approved by Reid's management or Governing Board.
  • Investment Management
The objective: maximum asset-growth over a long-term time horizon, consistent with reasonable safety
  • Campaigns
Consideration of the need, if any, for a Capital Gifts Campaign to help acquire essential, expensive health-care equipment and facilities.
  • Cultivation
Continuation, in all appropriate ways, of cultivation and solicitation of:
    1. Major gifts and bequests, including deferred or "planned" gifts from persons who have already demonstrated loyalty and support for Reid.
    2. Annual and periodic gifts, from individuals, corporations, clubs and organizations throughout and beyond Reid's service area.
  • Friendraising
Continuation of appropriate efforts to assist Reid in building and sustaining an informed climate of interest, support and good-will among all of its existing and prospective constituents and those who advise them.

Scope of Work

The Foundation is a separate 501-c(3) not-for-profit organization. The Foundation is interpreted as an operating department of Reid and the avenue through which donations are received for funding charitable, scientific and educational purposes undertaken by Reid Hospital & Health Care Services.

The Foundation serves all Reid patients by issuing grants to Reid upon recommendation and approval of hospital management. These grants assist, encourage, promote and advance the diagnosis, care, treatment and rehabilitation of sick, afflicted, infirm and injured persons at Reid Hospital & Health Care Services wherever such services are rendered in the hospital setting, including but not limited to: Inpatient admissions, Outpatient admissions, Emergency Department admissions, as well as facilitating Hospice/Home Care Services.
