Oncology is the diagnosis and treatment of tumors and cancer.
If you or your loved one has been diagnosed with cancer, finding a dependable information source is crucial. Helping cancer patients and their families is a priority for us at Reid. Our dedicated staff is here to help in what we know is a difficult and emotional time - not just with direct care, but also to arm you with information about your specific cancer, your treatment and other services that might be available to help on your journey.
Reid's cancer program is accredited by the Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons (ACoS). The ACoS is made up of a group of professional organizations who are dedicated to reducing the number of cancer deaths. The group has a significant focus on education, quality care as well as maintaining high standards. To become a member of the Commission on Cancer, Reid has to undergo a rigorous evaluation process. Only one in four hospitals that treat cancer receives this accreditation.
Reid was the first hospital in East Central Indiana to earn this distinction.
This accreditation is recognition for the quality of Reid's comprehensive, multidisciplinary patient care.
Information about your type of cancer, and what type of treatment is indicated, is critical as you move forward with your treatment. This is a very difficult and emotional time, so knowing that your health care professionals are dedicated to helping and supporting you and your family is important. We wish to help you with this journey by directing you and your loved ones to the appropriate services available.
