| Adult Psychiatrics This unit provides 10 beds for acute psychiatric and substance abuse detoxification services. The unit is for patients 18 or older who are experiencing depression and/or family crisis, bipolar illness, schizophrenia and/or problems associated with personality disorders.
Many also have secondary problems with substance abuse. We provide safe detoxification of patients with significant withdrawal from chemicals requiring medical stabilization. The primary focus of this short stay acute unit is to assist patients in stabilization, symptom management evaluation and the return to long-term therapy in the community.
A multidisciplinary team works closely with the patient and family on both inpatient units to achieve the best results possible. The team includes LPNs, RNs, social workers, psychiatrists, medical consultants, activity therapists, dietitians, substance abuse counselors and occupational therapists. In addition to traditional medical care, consisting of physical exams, treatments and medication, the staff provides admission assessments and is directly involved in developing and facilitating a variety of groups (goal, medication education, life/leisure skills, spiritual support, etc.).
Treatment approaches include:
- Psychiatric evaluation
- Medication management
- Individual therapy
- Group therapy
- Family counseling
- Substance abuse assessment and counseling
- Activity groups
- Medical detoxification
