"Santa" Jim Holliger has been named Reid Hospital's
volunteer of the month for January. Holliger has helped staff the information
desk inside the hospital's main entrance for over two years. The Lynn, IN,
resident is also seen in area communities during the holidays in a familiar red
and white suit in the role of Santa.
"I have seen several grandparents and parents ask him if
they can take his picture with their children," said one nominator. "He is
always more than happy to do this."
Another co-worker said "no matter what age the guests and
parents are, when they see Santa Jim, their frowns turn into smiles."
Holliger stays busy participating in the Buckeye Santas,
Santa America Make-a-Wish, Men of Action in Faith, Order of Real Bearded Santas
and the Friend's Church of Lynn. He was awarded a Master's Degree from the
International School of Santas.
"This is a very great honor. I am just happy to share the
blessing and joy that I receive in my faith," said Holliger.
Working for the Randolph Southern School Corporation,
Holliger has four children and enjoys woodworking, reading, tinkering and
sewing.
