The Volunteer Services department has named Jane Retz as the March Volunteer. Jane has served as an Emergency Room Angel for six years and has received recognition for 1,000 hours of service.
ER staff mentioned in their nominations Jane’s smile and her ability to connect with and comfort families. Also cited were her reliability and cheerfulness. “She goes above and beyond to make everyone as comfortable as possible during their stay in the ER,” praised a co-worker.
Jane is retired from Finance Systems in Richmond and also worked for the Richmond Gas Company and Berman’s Drugs. She is a member of the First Baptist Church.
Jane stays busy with her three grown children, eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She enjoys quilting and jigsaw puzzles.
“I am very honored to receive the Volunteer of the Month award. I love doing what I do, and I love to help people. Volunteering is therapeutic for me as well,” said Jane.
