Jenny Schepis has been named the October Ambassador by Reid Hospital. Jenny is a third shift patient care tech/clerk on the Acute Rehabilitation Unit. A native of Darke County, Ohio, she has worked at Reid since July 2011. Jenny has over nine years of health care experience and has been pursuing a degree in nursing for three years.
Co-workers commend her positive attitude and motivation. “When you see Jenny with patients you would think she is a family member,” said a colleague. “She genuinely cares for her patients.” A supervisor said, “Jenny is a true example of a giving and gentle spirit who gives of herself to patients, their families and to her co-workers. She always has a smile, a great attitude and willingness to help.”
Jenny and her husband, Eric, live in the country with their two children, Jacob (15) and Hannah (10). Completing the family are three dogs, Scooby, Sisco and Turbo. Also part of the menagerie are Hannah’s 4-H rabbits, Bella and Buckeye. The family enjoys camping and following the kids in soccer, 4-H and scouting. Jenny likes scrapbooking, photography and is a biking enthusiast. Eric and Jacob joined her in this year’s ReidRide and they hope to include Hannah in 2013.
Jenny worked as an aide in an extended care facility and as a pharmacy tech. She was an insurance agent for 15 years. After providing care to her father and mother-in-law during difficult illnesses, Jenny decided to return to health care. Due in part to inspiration from her mom, Patricia Williams, a Reid Hospice nurse, Jenny started working on an RN degree. “I enjoy working at Reid because everyone makes you feel at home,” said Jenny. “I work with a wonderful group who are professional and compassionate, which solidifies my reason for working at Reid.”
