Reid Rehabilitation FREE Fall Festival offers games, prizes, expert presentations on Thurs, Oct. 25

Date
2012-10-23

The Reid Rehabilitation Center is inviting community members to a free Fall Festival Thursday, Oct. 25, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the facility, 2021 Chester Boulevard. The event includes activities for all ages.

Rick Johnson, director of rehabilitation services, said the festival offers screenings such as blood pressure, blood sugar and osteoporosis; carnival games; a Halloween costume contest for kids at 11:30; and presentations for adults featuring Reid physicians. Food and prizes will also be available.

“This is a fun way to learn more about the variety of services we offer,” he said. Reid Rehabilitation Center features separate adult and pediatric therapy areas and is the region’s largest outpatient rehab facility.

Children must be accompanied by an adult, he noted. Presentations of interest to adults include:

  • 10 a.m. -- “Applied Behavioral Analysis for Autism” - ABC
  • 10 a.m.  --  “Medicare and the Therapy Cap”
  • 10:30 a.m. --  “Therapy for Autism”
  • 11 a.m. --  “Balance Disorders and Fall Risks”
  • Noon -- “Stroke & the Benefits of Rehab” with Dr. George Guo, Neurologist
  • 12:30 p.m.  -- “Developmental Delays” with Dr. Heather Nichols, Pediatrician
  • 1 p.m. --  “Management of Joint Pain & Arthritis” with Dr. Brett Krepps, Orthopedic Surgeon
  • 1 p.m.  -- Roundtable discussion, Pediatric Physical, Occupational & Speech Therapy
