Nominations from Reid team members in four departments have commended a first shift Emergency Department registration clerk as Ambassador of the Month for June.
“His professionalism, customer service skills, humor and attention to the details make him an obvious candidate for the ambassadorship,” wrote one colleague of Jamaal Mays. “Jamaal demonstrates a special talent to make everyone feel relaxed and comfortable, even when tensions are high due to the patient’s unexpected accident or injury.”
Mays, a Richmond resident, graduated from Richmond High School in 2001 and joined the Reid team in November of 2005.
“Ever since, he has been an excellent co-worker and a friend to everyone he has met,” wrote another nominator.
One nomination cited the apparently inexhaustible patience Mays lavishes alike on colleagues and patients as he calmly, cordially, respectfully and completely explains the process.
“A team-oriented person who steps up and assists other employees when needed,” reads a typical nomination. “Jamaal always goes the extra mile.”
“I enjoy working at Reid because of the opportunity to help our patients, guests and each other,” writes Mays. “Every day brings new tasks, excitement and fulfillment.”
Mays, a member of the Reid basketball team, is also active in the Richmond Civic Theater. His most recent appearance was in Miracle on 34th Street.
