New Reid Orthopedic Center welcomes first surgeon

Dr. Mario LeeMario Lee, M.D., orthopedic surgeon, begins seeing patients May 5 in the Reid Orthopedic Center on the new Reid Hospital campus just off Reid Parkway in Richmond.

Dr. Lee, who is board-certified, comes to Richmond from Kirtland, Ohio, where he was in a group orthopedic practice and also worked at a Cleveland Clinic affiliate. Dr. Lee brings experience in arthroscopic management of shoulder and knee injuries, fracture care in the pediatric and geriatric populations, carpal tunnel syndrome, joint replacements and sports injuries.

“My family and I were seeking a new opportunity in a Midwest community,” Dr. Lee said. “We are so impressed with the friendliness of the area and also with the way Reid is committed to bringing the best in compassionate, high-tech care to the community.”

Dr. Lee is licensed in Indiana and Ohio. He is a graduate of Albert Einstein College of Medicine with a Doctor of Medicine degree. He completed his orthopedic surgery residence at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center. Besides an interest in golf, basketball and swimming, Dr. Lee is a second degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do.

The Reid Orthopedic Center, a service of Reid Hospital, will be adding more physicians to its staff in the near future, Dr. Lee said.

Barry MacDowell, Reid Hospital president, said Reid is excited to have Dr. Lee join the team. "In the few weeks that Dr. Lee has been with us, it has become clear to everyone who has worked with him that he not only embodies our CARE principles, he has a passion for taking care of patients and a desire to become a supportive part of his new community. His high clinical skills will quickly become known."
