February Volunteer a volunteer for all seasons

Margie MullinsFor February the Volunteer Department finds its exemplar in-house in its clerical assistant and the assistant recording secretary of the Auxiliary board.

Margie Mullins, a Richmond-area resident who is retired after 25 years at Earlham College as secretary to the president and after six years as executive assistant to the president of Bethany Theological Seminary, began volunteering at Reid in October 2005.

“Margie is always willing to assist with any task, and her flexibility is such that she comes in whenever needed,” wrote one nominator.

Another noted that Mullins, with 461 volunteer hours to her credit, has also volunteered to help with many fund-raising events.

“Margie is truly an asset to Reid's Volunteer Department and Auxiliary,” concluded one nominator.”

Mullins, who makes time for her hobbies of knitting, reading, cooking and entertaining, also volunteers at Bethany and as a Civic Hall usher.

A regular at Bible Study Fellowship, she also attends Bible study at First Baptist Church.

Mullins and Denver, her husband of 47 years, have three children, five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
