Honored psych volunteer bears up

three days a week in Outpatient Psychiatry, October’s Volunteer of the Month
at Reid Hospital & Health Care Services has impressed her nominators with
her levels of motivation and caring.
Hazel Fortner, a Richmond area resident, also drew praise because she is always happy to help out.
“She really likes what she does here at Reid,” writes one nominator. “Hazel always enjoys coming in.”
Another noted, “Hazel is a motivated, caring individual who is always happy to help out and to come in and volunteer.”
“It’s always a happy thing to come here,” Fortner said. “The people I work with are great.”
Retired after 30 years from Verizon, Fortner has three children. Her collection of stuffed bears is as much for her edification, she indicates, as for that of her six grandchildren.
