Patient StoriesBill Stackhouse
One year later, Bill can say he's survived MRSA, Step B, meningitis, seven aneurisms, a tear in his upper GI, eight bladder stones and infection on his heart valve. "I should be dead. It's a miracle I'm here and it's all because of Reid Hospital," said Bill. A father of four, grandfather of ten and great-grandfather of six, Bill said his personal health care crisis has been humbling yet rewarding. "My family wanted what was best for me and they were right here. Reid was great to my kids and to my wife, Opal – I am grateful for the way Reid treated them, and I'm grateful to be here to know about it." Opal said she was impressed by Bill's caregivers. "Dr. (Morgan) Moncada, Dr. (Mario) Lee, Dr. (Joseph) Kolb, Dr. (Lyman) Brothers, and all the nurses – everyone was so kind and compassionate. Not only are they good at what they do, they are good people. All the way, we understood the severity of what Bill was going through – but we never once worried. We always felt he was in good hands and would always make it through. I credit that to Reid," said Opal. |
